Apple executives on the Mac at 30 years old – The Other Companies are Gone

Check out this interview by Jason Snell with Apple executives on the Mac at 30: ‘The Mac keeps going forever.’ | Macworld.

A sweet and short interview, basically a vocalization on Apple’s commitment to the Mac, and their commitment to stay away from any attempt to converge iOS into OSX, like the failed Windows 8 plan. Windows is still trying to converge, and Apple is saying that a Mac is better with a keyboard, and iOS is better without.  I couldn’t agree more.  It’s crazy how Windows 8 is holding Microsoft back because of their compromised attempt to make everyone happy and stuff everything into a single OS.  I would love to see a dual-booting iMac that converts into a huge iPad, like we’ve seen in  Apple Patents. It’d be tough to do elegantly, but that’s what makes Apple, well, Apple.

One of many key quotes from Apple senior vice president of software engineering Craig Federighi in the Interview,

You don’t want to say the Mac became less good at being a Mac because someone tried to turn it into iOS
