There is something remarkably genuine and geographic about the music of Johnny 2 Fingers and The Deformities. Their new music video for Singin’ Outta Tune is no exception. Their region is the middle of the Canadian Prairies in the small city of Moose Jaw. The setting of the music video is a Moose Jaw house party. The one minute intro itself is a short documentary on what it’s like to grow up in Moose Jaw, going to parties and having fun.
The singer/songwriter of the band (John Dale) wrote the song out of an experience he had at a Moose Jaw show. The Sure Things were playing and as it often happens in Moose Jaw they were about to play to an empty room. John showed up for some coffee. The music was good and he stayed as The Sure Things played to an audience of one.
After the show they went over to John’s place (location of the music video) and they stayed up all night laughing, drinking and playing each other songs. The next day The Sure Things drove off for their show in Edmonton without getting a wink of sleep. It wasn’t long after that John started writing more songs and making a name for himself in the Saskatchewan music scene.
Singin’ Outta Tune is the anthem for the party-friend and if you are going to stay up late and party with your friends, you should probably learn it.
