At 96, Heimlich performs his own maneuver to save a life for the first time

by Tony Creech on Monday, May 30, 2016

Kevin Grasha and Bowdeya Tweh, writing for Cincinnati.com,

Heimlich told The Enquirer Thursday his encounter with Patty Ris at the Deupree House senior living facility, where they both live, was the first time he ever performed it on a person needing immediate aid.

There some interesting dispute happening around whether this was, in fact, the first time he’s used his own procedure to save someone. One of his own son’s says he’s mistaken and he’s used it before, and yet a different son claims that this is surely the first time he’s ever used it. I hope when I’m 96 my kids can argue over how many people I really did save.
